Focus on grade 1
As the new student's and those who graduated from Kindergarten settle into student life in grade 1, it is time to introduce each grade over the coming months. This week we can share a little about our grade 1 students!
Class rules for grade 1, made together with the home room teachers. 4 simple rules to help student's focus in and out of class!
Central to all the work in primary school is the international baccalaureate (IB) learner profile, with its aim to develop internationally minded people who recognise a common trait in humanity and sharing the planet. IB learners in the school are introduced to the profile, and as they develop their skills they grow in mind and spirit to challenge and inquire about the world around them. Each teacher in the school is regarded as a language teacher, regardless of their core subject. Student's and Teacher's are just one of the many values we have at the school that drive The PYP programme.
Eager students from grade 1 class 2, wanting to have the chance at answering a question! Our students are encourage to always try, there is no failure in trying, just more opportunities to discover the route to the correct answer.
Heather is one of our international oral English teacher's, and works with grade one. The current academic book is from Cambridge press and is called Fun for starters. It covers a wide range of activities and topics, which all link in with the PYP programme and helps develop the student's IB learner profile. Todays lesson is fruit, scaffolding on the individual's ability to compose a sentence on the subject matter.
The student's across all 3 classes are eager to be involved in the lessons. The lessons which are created by Heather are active and will involve a great deal of student participation. With a full schedule of topics to not only cover the winter semester, but also the summer semester of 2018, the student's will enjoy a varied academic year. The PYP represents a wide range of research and experience, excellent practice derived from a national system and independent schools.
The mission statement of the International Baccalaureate
The international baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organisation works with schools, governments and international organisations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
