Chinese national holiday October the 1st 2017.
The National Day of the People's Republic of China is a public holiday in the People's Republic of China to celebrate the national day, and is celebrated annually on October the 1st
The PRC was founded on September the 21st 1949, with a ceremony celebrating the forming of the Central People's Government taking place in Tiananmen Square on October the 1st that year. The Central People's Government passed the Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China on December the 2nd 1949, and declared that October the 1st is the National Day
The National Day marks the start of only one of the Golden Weeks in the PRC. However, there have been some recent controversies over whether Golden Weeks should be kept.
The National Day is celebrated throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau with a variety of government-organized festivities, including fireworks and concerts. Public places, such as Tiananmen Square in Beijing, are decorated in a festive theme. Portraits of revered leaders, such as Mao Zedong, are publicly displayed.
Traditionally at this time, family and friends gather. Public transport is very busy as a great proportion of the country will travel back to their home provinces. Fireworks will be used and Tiananmen Square will no doubt be a focus point for fireworks and a dragon dance!
