Focus on grade 2

Celebrating Success

We are now ending the mid term tests for primary and middle school, and it has been a very busy period for both teachers and students alike. A great deal of planning goes into the midterm tests, and students are well prepared for it. It is now approaching the end of the day on Saturday the 30th of September, and the students will leave the school at 4pm to start their national weeks holiday.

Grade 2 has 3 classes, 1, 2 and 3. All three classes are non-segregated in ability so each class has a range of students, which tests the teachers differentiation skills to continue to develop engaging lessons. Each class has a home room teacher, and subject teachers. The Students take all their lesson in the same class with the exception of art, science, physical education and calligraphy.

The school classrooms are well decorated inside and out, to engage the students in all their learning. Outside the classroom you can read and understand who the teachers are, a little of their backgrounds and teaching styles. The walls are brightly decorated and used very well to display the students work and celebrate in their success.

This week in particular for grade 2 has been hard work for the students, who have taken tests in Chinese and math, written and oral English! I should imagine they are keen for the break, however the home work has been set!! We are all looking forward to the discussions about how they spent their national holiday.

This is Joe from grade 3, he is new to the group this semester, he is settling in very well and works very hard to improve his oral English! Whilst Joe was taking his test the rest of the class were enjoying watching a film and enjoying the rest!

Grade 3 in relaxed mode as Joe takes center stage!

The outside walls are always brightly decorated and engage the students, as a leading IB PYP school we use every opportunity to engage the students and help them discover more about the world and increase their own awareness on the IB learner profile.

Meet Makiyo, homeroom teacher for grades 2 and 3

That is all for this weeks blog! After the national holiday the focus will switch to Kindergarten and a more indepth look at some of our excellent teachers here.
